Bristol and Somerset Wedding of the Year 2012

I’m delighted to say that two of the wedding couples that I had the pleasure to photograph last year have been short-listed in Round 1 of the Wedding of the Year 2012 competition which is organised by Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding magazine and website.

To vote for your favourite couple please visit Voting for this round closes on 29 June 2012.

Couple: Kate & Andy Cooper

Date: 26th October 2011

Venue: Priston Mill near Bath

The day

Laughter was top agenda for Kate and Andy’s fun-filled big day. “There was no theme as such, it was just informal and chilled out and included all our favourite things and people,” says Kate. The ceremony was punctuated with laughter, particularly when Kate made her big entry to the refrains of At Last by Etta James.

Memorable moments

Highlights included larking about in the grounds and being with all their close friends and family. “It’s not every day you get pulled along on a zip wire in a wedding dress,” laugh Kate. “We didn’t follow tradition, we just did what we wanted as it was our special day. The venue was lovely and the photographers were awesome and helped us create some very interesting shots on the adventure playgrounds.”

Couple: Lucy & James Luton

Date: 3rd December 2011

Ceremony: All Saints Church, Long Ashton

Reception: Ashton Court Mansion, Bristol

The day

The magic of the festive season provided the perfect backdrop for Lucy and James’ big day. “I wanted a cosy Christmas wedding and we achieved just that,” says Lucy. Red roses complemented by ivory and silver accents set the tone, with plenty of seasonal fun thrown in.

Memorable moments

Special touches included a fun rendition of the carol, 12 days of Christmas involving all the guests. Lucy explains: “It was a great icebreaker and got everyone energised before the speeches.” Other stand out moments included the ceremony, when Lucy’s best friend Rachel sang a Gaelic prayer and her friend Hannah made a heartfelt speech.
